While incarcerated, Farmer's property was foreclosed on by the bank, his family was evicted while fighting the foreclosure, and the property and his home were sold during an auction he was unable to appeal. Farmer's family has lost access to invaluable legal documents such as birth certificates, death certificates, wills, and other important legal information. They have also been blocked from removing their own property from the farm during this process, despite their good faith attempts to work with the "new owner" to remove their important documents, cremains of loved ones, and precious family heirlooms passed down through generations. Once the family was evicted, Farmer's dog, Mya, loved by all of the family members, was required by town officials to be removed from the property and put down. Nightmare, one of the family kitties who was hiding in the basement during the eviction, was later found, and given away to someone else when the girl who loved her tried to claim her at the local Humane Society.
