The Allegations

Farmer was arrested 3 months after he went to the police to try to report attempted extortion by several young adults in the community. At the most recent hearing August 18, 2025, Farmer's attorney had  the police investigator's notes formally added to the case and court records indicating they believed Farmer and they had actual evidence the accusers were lying 3 months before Farmer's arrest, and had evidence that his accusers made other lies up about other citizens which was never allowed to be shared in court. Investigators also had knowledge that at least half of the accusers were making blatantly false allegations. Their stories contradicted each other. This is all now part of the court record.

A Brief History of the Case, to summarize

This case really started in August of 2016, when the neighbors formed a group called "The Concerned Citizens of  Chatam Road and Lover's Lane" and began working with members of the town offices, including then-town administrator and then-president Board of Selectman.

During Discovery motions in court, and publicly available information, it was learned that the two town officials, along with others aiding them, most notably certain members of the Harwich PD, conspired with the NIMBY neighbors  to "take any necessary actions, even ones they didn't believe legal, to get the Viprinos off the property and out of the town, as it had worked with that other family". These records are in court records from 2017-2021, when Farmer's case against the town departments and individual town members involved in the actions that damaged his reputation and business, was dismissed due to Covid, and Farmer was advised by the judge in that case that is was dismissed without prejudice  due to Covid, and he could re-file at a later date.  These records, which  were subpoenaed by Farmer's lawyer at the time, are still contained within the attorney's records.

In April of  2023,  Farmer came to the rescue of certain individuals above the age of 18 who were claiming they were being hurt by family members, and allowed them to reside in his home with his family.  Farmer's attempt to help people who claimed to be down on their luck led to him being arrested, charged, appeared in multiple court appearances revealing charges needed to be corrected, and languishing in a county SuperMax facility while the prosecution was given time to find evidence to correct the charges while his family and their life's work was destroyed.

In July of 2023, Farmer heard about an old family friend who was in trouble - someone was making false allegations against him. Farmer didn't believe them, and decided to reach out to see how he could help. At that time he heard of other allegations against an additional close friend.  These individuals were using the same descriptions of assaults against both men, and used those as excuses for seeking help. Their claims were that they were both "being groomed" by the older man and admitted to Farmer they were lying about one person to show they were being truthful about the other case.  The girls asked Farmer for help. He refused, the girls asked someone else for help, and this case was not pursued by the PD in order to "not ruin the kids' lives".

In November of 2023, there were allegations made that Farmer had assaulted them, weeks after he tried to report them for attempted extortion to both the local PD and federal prosecutors.  Somehow, Farmer was the only person who has been given any consequences of all of this. He has been sitting in a County Correctional Supermax facility since his arrest.

His farm has been foreclosed on, and the family is still trying to overturn that in court. His wife and children were evicted from their farm, and despite good faith efforts, were unable to retrieve their belongings, including family legal documents, priceless heirlooms, vehicles, computer equipment, and expensive farm equipment. Farmer's health has suffered, his wife's health has suffered, and so has their children's.  Family pets were given away or put down. He has lost his career, a lucrative consulting job, and his faith in "the system".

If not for the actions, prejudice, and bias of the former Board of Selectman members and other co-conspirators, the town would not have been so open to knowingly pursue false allegations against a citizen and business owner whose positive contributions to the town were ignored. These actions make even less sense, given their own investigators indicated in their own notes that they did not believe the allegations against him. Subsequent evidence that was obtained during further investigation supported the investigator's suspicions. No formal consequences have ever been suffered by anyone other than Farmer and his family in this entire ordeal.
